Splendid architecture

with plenty of decorative detail

and vivid color

in the Arabic tradition

lie abandoned in the desert

one structure after another

and the next

which on closer inspection

may still be inhabited by a few local descendants

of a great visionary tribe

who mysteriously vanished

leaving their drained swimming pools behind
